Agnus Dei or the Lamb of God is a symbol of Jesus Christ, especially used in the older times of chirstianity. The lamb refers to sacrifical lambs in ancient jewish temples, sacrifices Jesus Christ went through for the sins of humanity. In ecclesiastical art the lamb is shown with the christian banner, a cross and halo. This special "Klosterarbeit" is like all the others presented on MiaDeRoca webstore handcrafted. The tablet of wax is showing the lamb of god and the inscribtion "ECCE. AGN. DEI. QUI. TOL. P. MUN." which refers in long form to the latin words "Ecce Agnus Dei, qui tollis peccata mundi", what means translated: "Behold the Lamb of God, who takest away the sins of the world". The wax tablet is adorned with wonderful flowers of gold palted wire, filigree with white and red pearls and gold-coloured rocailles and golden lace. In the background you see brown moiré silk. The frame of this exceptional handcraft is a black wooden frame.
